Teams 2025

The next stage of the school's transition from Ultra to Teams, commences this week and next. CapSDE’s Trial Champions will have either recently communicated (or be about to communicate) the arrangements for Microsoft Teams Trials. Please make sure you check for e-mails from these teachers, and ensure you are aware of the plan. The purpose of the trial is to build Microsoft Teams competence amongst teachers and students, and to iron out potential issues with the platform, ahead of all lessons being run through Teams, in 2025.
Home Tutors and students within these trial classes are strongly encouraged to communicate feedback on the platform with their class teacher; doing so will benefit the greater school community. We encourage a growth mindset, open and honest communication, and a willingness to experiment and problem-solve.
As with all aspects of learning at CapSDE, staff, students, and Home Tutors will be required to work, study, and act in accordance with our Code of Conduct. We draw your attention to Appendix B Online Lesson Expectations and Protocols for Students, and expect all students to maintain excellent behaviour. The school’s core values of Accountability, Integrity, Respect, Positive Relationships, and Resilience remain at the forefront of all we do.
As released in Week One’s SZine Teams update, Home Tutor sessions will be offered during Term Four Mini-school, and again during the Home Tutor Induction Days in 2025.
CapSDE extends its gratitude to all Teams Champions, and to the students participating as part of the trials.

Emerald Campus P-6: Wednesday 13th November 2024 as an After School Activity from 2:45pm onwards.
- Please make sure students wear a WHITE shirt and closed in shoes.
- Students will be given free sunglasses and a rainbow headband for the event.
- Students will be covered in non-toxic, biodegradable colour powder from head to toe.
- Colour Powder is made of high-quality corn starch and permitted food colours. Safety data sheet is available upon request.
How Do We Fundraise?
Fundraising for our Colour Explosion School Run 4 Fun is entirely online. Outstation Accommodation - Emerald
This year being an even numbered year, the Primary end of year events and P & C Dinner will be held in Emerald on the following dates.
Monday 2 December
- Year 6 Fun Day
- Year 6 Dinner
Tuesday 3 December
- Primary Swimming Carnival
- Primary Awards Ceremony
- All School P & C Dinner
Families may like to start considering accommodation for these events if they are travelling from Rockhampton or other areas, as finding accommodation in Emerald at the moment is quite challenging.
For those that may not be aware, the Emerald campus of CapSDE has an accommodation facility available for families traveling for school related activities, The Outstation. If you would like to consider The Outstation for your trip to Emerald in December, please see the information booklet below that has been put together by The Outstation Committee.
Please note that the Outstation can accommodate around 100 people, so there will be plenty of space for families wanting to stay 😊
Please email outstationlegends@gmail.com if you are interested in staying there over those few days or if you have any other questions.
CapSDE Campdraft
CapSDE students competed in the 2024 High School Percentile Cup held in Pittsworth last week.
We have a talented bunch of campdrafters in our student body! Great effort by CapSDE students Bella, Mac, Darcy, Jayde and Peyton and their families. A big thank you also to Ms Rynne for making it possible for our students to represent our fantastic school at this event.

Prep
Our Prep Emerald and Prep Rockhampton students have done an amazing job this year! They have learned many sounds and are now confidently saying each one, blending them together to read words, and understanding what they read. Plus, they’ve started spelling words and writing their own sentences. We are so proud of how far everyone has come! Keep up the great work!

Sports Person of the year award 2024
CapSDE annually acknowledges the sporting achievements of a Primary and Secondary Student, who has excelled throughout the year at the end of year awards.
The presentation of the Sports Person of the Year Award goes to the student who has accumulated the most amount of points throughout the year in their various sporting achievements.
Parents are asked to advise the school throughout the year of the sporting achievements by completing this online form. Scores are based on events, the level of the event (district, regional, state, national etc) and the students placing within those events. You will need to complete the form for each individual achievement. Do not place all achievements on the one form.
At the end of the year, points are collated, and the winner announced.
Information to note:
* School sports are what counts for CapSDE Sportsperson of the year. Students are recognised for their achievement in other non-school fields; however, these achievements are not part of the accumulation of points towards the CSDE Sportsperson of the year.
* You should list the highest level that your student has represented in that sport, noting that the points are only entered if the student represented, and not if they were selected and did not attend.
* Unfortunately, camp-drafting, is not a recognised 'regional school sport' and so would not apply for Sportsperson of the year.
