Mini-school - 'what, how, where and when?'

Capricornia School of Distance Education values face-to-face experiences. There are many reasons why families and students choose distance education but here at CapSDE we aim to ensure that your child receives the same opportunities as any other student in a mainstream school. Mini-school is one of the ways we can offer your child face-to-face experience incorporating, learning and socialisation.

Throughout the year, CapSDE aims to provide opportunities for students to socialise and work with their peers, play sport, compete in swimming and athletics carnivals, experience in-class activities in a school environment and facilitate Professional Development opportunities for Home Tutors.

CapSDE believes that your child will flourish, as families, staff, and the school community work together to support each other's, learning and education. We look forward to seeing you this Mini-school.

Internet Safe Education HT Session

Internet Safe Education has worked with well over 1500 school communities to help educate parents, students, teachers and school staff about Internet Safety. This Mini-school Internet Safe Education will be visiting both Emerald and Rockhampton Campus students and Home Tutors.

Our Presenter Sarah Cavanagh brings a wealth of experience in intelligence, law enforcement, cybersecurity, and community engagement to her role as a presenter at Internet Safety Education. With a career spanning over two decades, Sarah has worked within organisations including the Australian Criminal Intelligence Commission, FBI, Department of Home Affairs, the Australian Department of Defence and not-for-profit sector. She has demonstrated leadership and expertise in various high-stakes environments, ensuring the security and safety of communities both online and offline.

Recently, as Manager Outreach and Education for IDCARE, Sarah delivered critical education on scams, cybercrime and identity theft to metropolitan, regional and remote community members and organisations across every State and Territory in Australia. This face-to-face engagement with some of our most vulnerable community members fuelled her commitment to public education and awareness.

Leveraging her extensive experience in intelligence, cybercrime and community engagement, Sarah delivers engaging and information sessions that promote online safety, understanding the risks of identity theft which for many starts in school, and the importance of identity security. She provides practical steps everyone can take to navigate safely and confidently online.
Her commitment to promoting safety and awareness, both online and in the community, aligns perfectly with the mission of Internet Safety Education.

Don't miss this valuable opportunity to glean some valuable information on how to keep your students and families safe in the online environment.
