New Look Newsletter
Welcome to the new look newsletter! This is part of CSDE's ongoing initiative to provide our families with clear, concise and easy to access information. CSDE is listening to the feedback from our families and we hope the SZapp will be an invaluable 'at your finger tips' tool for keeping you all up to date with everything here at CSDE.
Instructions to download and install the app are in the header at the top of this newsletter. When asked for a 4 digit passcode, you will find this information in the Primary and Secondary General classrooms (links to the left of Announcements).
Mini-school is just around the corner
Mini-school is next week!
Have you returned your permission forms yet? These can be found in the back of the Mini-school booklet. Secondary students require permission forms to attend Conference on North Campus from Tuesday - Friday. Discus participants will also require permission forms or they will be unable to compete. If your student is being collected from Mini-school by someone other than yourself, you will need to complete the Alternative Guardian pickup form and ensure you have a current phone contact for this person included.
Secondary students, a reminder that you have lessons as normal on Monday. For those have the opportunity to participate in various off-campus activities this Mini-school. White Card Short Course, CQ Uni & TAFE Campus Connect program and Construction Industries Gateways session. The RSVP's for these activities have closed and permission forms should already have been emailed to the school. A two day First Aid course is being offered to students in Years 11 & 12 which will see these students obtain 2 QCE credits along with invaluable skills. The course will be offered again during Mini-school in Term 4. Year 10 students will also be included in the Term 4 round.
Primary students, don't forget to dress up as your favourite book character for Book Week dress up day on Friday for the chance to win a prize! Students will also have the opportunity to participate in hands on activities in the Robotics sessions, hone their ball skills during the Lee Addison Rugby League clinic and be amazed during the Felstead Math Show.
The P and C is running their Picture Plate fundraiser on both campuses for your chance to have your child's artwork captured on a plate. These are a great momento to keep for years to come.
The Mini-school booklet is available in Blackboard Announcements in the Primary and Secondary General Classrooms and also attached to each campus event in the school calendar to the left of this article for your convenience. We look forward to seeing you all there!
Please note: Unfortunately due to unforeseen circumstances, the scheduled Rockhampton Year 3 Home Tutor Session for Mini-school will be cancelled. If you have any pressing concerns that you needed to discuss please email Ms Goldston and she will be in contact once she returns to work.
John McFadyen will still be offering a Math Home Tutor session for Years 3 - 6 on Wednesday at 1:15PM at Rockhampton Campus and we look forward to seeing you there.
My child is not attending Mini-school face-to-face? Attendance is still expected online.
If your student/s are not participating in face to face Mini-school, the Mini-school online program is running instead of their normal timetabled lessons and students in Years Perp - 10 are expected to attend those sessions.
Online Mini-school timetables are available in the Mini-school booklet. Rolls are taken and attendance is recorded.
If your student is absent for reasons of illness or misadventure, parents are still required to contact the school via the school absence process.
NAPLAN
Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 students will be sitting their NAPLAN testing during Mini-school next week; Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. Please note that NAPLAN is only being delivered face to face on campus. This is to maintain the integrity of the testing. Students are not able to complete NAPLAN at home.
The majority of this testing will be completed via an online method, using school laptops. It is important that students remember to bring their login details. If your student can't remember their login details, please have them bring it on a small slip of paper. Specific NAPLAN log in details will be given to students at the time of examination.
If you do not wish for your student to participate in NAPLAN, you will have received exemption forms last Friday via email that you can complete and email back to to the school.
