Mini-school - 'what, how, where and when?'
Capricornia School of Distance Education values face-to-face experiences. There are many reasons why families and students choose distance education but here at CSDE we aim to ensure that your child receives the same opportunities as any other student in a mainstream school. Mini-school is one of the ways we can offer your child face-to-face experience incorporating, learning and socialisation.
Throughout the year, CSDE aims to provide opportunities for students to socialise and work with their peers, play sport, compete in swimming and athletics carnivals, experience in-class activities in a school environment and facilitate Professional Development opportunities for Home Tutors.
CSDE believes that your child will flourish, as families, staff, and the school community work together to support each others, learning and education.
We look forward to seeing you this Mini-school.
Welcome to Mini-school!

Sibling photos will be on offer at Rockhampton Campus from 7:30am on Monday 11th March to allow families time for this to occur before having to take their secondary students to Conference on North. Any students with senior exams on photo day do not stress! Secondary individual photos will be taken in the afternoon at Conference on North
CSDE is also offering Year Level group photos. These photos are compiled virtually from all the students in that year level that had their photo taken. This is a new option for our families, introduced last year and we are very excited to be able to offer you the latest technology in creating digital memories again this year. These group photos were very well received last year, giving students a lasting momento of their classmates that is usually reserved for only 'face to face' schools.

Emerald Campus Prep Vision Screening
Emerald Familes, please see email with booking link that was emailed on the 5th February 2024.
Visit by Registered Nurse for Free Prep Vision Screening
Good vision is important for a child’s educational, physical and social development. Vision screening checks for common eye conditions that may impact your child’s ability to see and therefore impact their learning and development.
A Registered Nurse will be visiting the school on/between 14th March 2024 to conduct vision screening for children in their prep year. Your child does not need a Medicare card in order to participate in screening. If you wish to have your prep child participate in this free vision screening program, please complete a consent form by 7th of March (online). Online or paper consent forms are available and will be distributed to you. Parents do not need to be present for screening, however if you would like to be, please contact the school to arrange this.
If your child’s vision is screened, you will be advised of the results in writing. If a vision concern is found, you will receive a phone call from the nurse to discuss referral to an eye health professional for further assessment. If a vision concern is identified and your child requires glasses, eligible health care card holders may be assisted with free basic glasses through the Spectacle Supply Scheme.
Participation in vision screening is not compulsory. If you do not wish for your child to participate in screening, please complete the consent form and indicate that you wish to decline screening.
If you have any questions, please contact the Primary School Nurse Health Readiness Program on 1800 687 372.
