Have You RSVP'd Yet?
The Mini-school newsletter was published to families last week.
All RSVP's and permission forms are due back today. If you have not already completed your forms, please do so as a matter of urgency. Links and forms are all available in the Mini-school Newsletter.
- All Secondary Students will require a permission form
- All Rockhampton Primary students will be required to complete the Pickleball excursion consent form.
Where can I find staff email addresses?
Staff contact email address and phone numbers can be found in the Primary and Secondary Cohort Courses. Look for the big green button 'Staff Contacts'.
When you open the document you will see different coloured tabs across the bottom of the page.
This will allow you to access staff information from both campuses.
You are also able to filter (example: if you only want Primary Teachers)
If you have any questions regarding this contact list, please contact the school and we will be more than happy to assist you.
School Photos - access links have been emailed to families.
School Photos will be held during Term One Mini-school. There will be no envelopes, as families have been emailed an access key to be able to order their photos online. Please check your spam/junk folder if you have not received this access key.
CSDE will also be issuing all Secondary Students in Year 7 - 12 with a student card from their 2024 school photo. The first card is supplied and paid for by the school. All replacement cards will be at the expense of the family.
Sibling photos will be on offer at Rockhampton Campus from 7:30am on Monday 11th March to allow families time for this to occur before having to take their secondary students to Conference on North. Any students with senior exams on photo day do not stress! Secondary individual photos will be taken in the afternoon at Conference on North
CSDE is also offering Year Level group photos. These photos are compiled virtually from all the students in that year level that had their photo taken. This is a new option for our families, introduced last year and we are very excited to be able to offer you the latest technology in creating digital memories again this year. These group photos were very well received last year, giving students a lasting momento of their classmates that is usually reserved for only 'face to face' schools.

Important NAPLAN Information
IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING NAPLAN testing 2024 – action required before 23 February 2024.
The National Assessment Program — Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) is a national Literacy and Numeracy assessment that students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 sit each year. NAPLAN assesses the Literacy and Numeracy skills that students are learning through the school curriculum and allows parents/carers to see how their child is progressing against national standards and over time. More information about NAPLAN is available here: www.nap.edu.au/naplan. This year NAPLAN will be held during Term One Mini-school, from Wednesday 13 – Friday 15 March 2024.
If you have a student in years 3, 5, 7 or 9, please click and download the information below regarding your childs' options for accessing NAPLAN testing; onsite, off-site, withdrawals/exemptions.
Please contact your student’s Care Group Teacher by Friday 23rd February, if you would like your student to access any of these options. Applications for off-site testing have now closed.
Timetable
See the timetable below that outlines the times for the NAPLAN testing during Mini-school in Week 8.
Could the next Student Spotlight be YOUR student's success story?
What's happening in Primary?
Whitsunday Voices are holding a short story competition again this year. We submitted a few entries from Capricornia School of Distance Education last year and we would love to see our students involved once again. Prizes for the competition will be presented in Mackay, at the festival welcome on Wednesday the 10th July around 4:00pm.
Home Visit to the Murdoch Family
Mrs Long and Mrs Campbell had a Home visit to the Murchoch's recently. This was a great opportunity for the students to show their teachers their work spaces and a little of their home life.

What did our students have to say about Year 4 Camp?
In Week 5, Year 4 attended camp in Week 5 at Cooee Bay in Yeppoon. This was a week of challenging ourselves, getting to know each other and having fun. It was wonderful to see the kids grow in their independence and relationships with each other. We are blessed that our students have this opportunity to spend the week with their dads (or other significant person), their peers and their teachers.
This is what the kids had to say about their week…
Sydney- I liked how I got over my fear of heights, I loved spending time canoeing and racing in it, plus shooting people in laser tag and having a good team. And I loved beating Eli in UNO! I think high ropes changed me. I used to be really scared but now I’m not. I used to worry about getting things wrong but I have realised that if you get down, you can have another go. If you have another go, you might be able to do it this time.
Korven - Well I thought that camp was fun. I liked caving with the dungeon level, laser tag, the lagoon and playing Uno with friends.
Elcie - When we went on the high ropes it was very scary at first then became fun. I went on the very top one.
Eli - When I went to camp I did not know how super it was and how daring my dad is. I conquered my fear of heights on the high ropes and by trusting my father. I also enjoyed losing to my best friend in Uno.
Phoebe - I loved how we got to do all the activities and the meals were delicious, complements to the chef. The second thing I loved about camp is the cabins they were very comfortable and cool. I also loved how we got to bring our dads and they got to play with us it was super fun.
Emily- Camp is the best. You get to go adventure caving and play lazer skirmish. Nothing is boring you simply can't get bored! You do have to climb a mountain and it' s a little tiring but you can see baby turtles, and the view at the top is great. Then after we go to the Lagoon and cool off. I'm telling you, IT IS AMAZING!!!!!!
Harley - I loved camp because you got to do caving, lazer skirmish, high ropes, rock wall climbing, go to the lagoon and I love how we got to sleep in cabins with other people. I loved the meals and the movie night.
Mac - I love the laser skirmish, rock wall, caves but not crawling through tunnels and small caves. I also loved high ropes.
Tim - I loved laser tag because you ran around and tagged people.
Jenna - I loved the zoo because I love animals and It was really cool too see all of those animals because some of them I don't get to see every day.
Maddy - The caves were my favourite because we had to squeeze through small holes. Laser tag was also my favourite because my dad and I hid near the other team’s spawn box.
Olivia -Lazer tag was the most fun thing for me as you get to roll under buildings and hide behind trees and it was so much fun.

Guidance 'Go-2'
Hi students and families
Over the next few months, starting at Mini-School next week, many of our year levels (both primary and secondary) will have the opportunity to engage in a number of different Kids Helpline Sessions. These sessions are aimed at different year levels and focus on many different topics. You will receive correspondence about these sessions through the Mini-School newsletter, via emails and blackboard announcements, to name a few.
If you or your child would like to know more about Kids Helpline, please check out the KHL Social Tile and check out one of the many links provided in this newsletter. Spend some time with your child at home talking about the different services that KHL can offer.
