What's happening in Primary?
Mini-school
It was great to see so many of our students attend Mini-school last week! Students converged on their chosen campus from across the state and enjoyed face-to-face time with their peers and teachers. Our Home Tutors were also given the change to upskill and build relationships with other Home Tutors.

English at Mini-school
The English faculty created a variety of engaging and hands on activities to keep eager young minds working hard during Mini school this term.
The year 10 students took a sneak peak into using the narrative skill of SHOWING and not TELLING. They had the opportunity to read a short story and interact with the ending. Look at their reactions after reading the text!
Focus skills for the year 9 students was working in groups to create metaphors, similes and personification that represented images.
Year 8 students got up on their feet and acted out some Dreamtime stories with their teachers. A lot of fun was had as they engaged dramatically with the text.
Creating Soundtracks of Life was the focus for year 7 session. Students were absolutely thrilled to enter the room to the sounds of either Wham’s, Wake me up before you Go or Rick Astley’s Never Gonna Give you Up. In this session, students were asked to pick 5 songs that mean something to them, be it songs from when they were a kid, or songs from today. They had to then tell us why these songs were on their Mixed Tape
Figurative Language
Students worked in groups to write figurative language. See some work samples below:
