School Photos - Update
Dear Families,
We regret to inform that we have been advised the photographer used by CapSDE and many other schools for student school photos has gone into liquidation.
This unexpected development has created a challenging situation, and we would like to keep you informed about the steps we are taking to address it.
CapSDE is actively working with the liquidators to explore options for another company to assist with the printing and supply of the photos that were taken.
While we navigate this process, we are pleased to inform you that we have been able to secure digital copies of the individual student and class group photos and are making arrangements to distribute these to families as soon as possible.
Additionally, we have been notified that some printed photos are currently being couriered back to CapSDE. At this time, we do not know which specific photos are included in this shipment. We will provide further updates once we have more information.
Unfortunately, we have been advised by the liquidators that refunds for the photos will not be available. We understand this is disappointing news and sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.
In the meantime, CapSDE will prioritise supplying student cards to families as quickly as possible.
We appreciate your understanding and patience as we work towards a resolution. Please rest assured that we are doing everything we can to ensure you receive a copy of your child’s photos.
Please see below letter from the liquidator.
What's happening in Primary?
CapSDE Primary Choir Competes
The school community passes its congratulations onto the Primary School Choir, who competed today in the Rockhampton Eisteddfod. Against tough opposition, with far more opportunities to rehearse, the school held its own, leaving the theatre with a 2nd place award, and their heads held high.
Thank-you to Mrs Ward, Mrs Saunders and Mr Scheuber for their work with the students over several months of rehearsals. Credit to all students who rehearsed and performed, and thank-you to the parents who were able to support their students by bringing them to rehearsals and to the Pilbeam Theatre for today’s performance.
It takes plenty of courage to be able to stand in front of complete strangers, and sing a song. But our CapSDE Choir did the school community proud. Congratulations everyone. We are incredibly proud of you.
Year 2
This term in Year 2 we are writing narratives. The student’s are busily learning how to descibe charaters and settings using expanded noun groups. Aged 7 and 8, these clever children are able to access other programs while in their Collaborate lessons and used Seesaw to write their descriptive sentences.
Year Six Scarecrow
Some of our Year 6 students created a scarecrow during Mini-school last week, and what a handsome fellow he turned out to be!

School Captain - Maddie Frankish
The 2024 Youth Expo was an amazing opportunity for students to discover and learn more about the importance of mental health. Mental health is such a crucial part of our lives, especially as young people navigating through the world, we are hit with challenges and without a strong mental state, these challenges can be hard to face alone.
At the Expo, we were encouraged to talk with all of the wonderful vendors about the importance of mental health and we were made aware of the support we have available around our region here in Rockhampton. It was a great day getting to know ourselves and each other.
A massive thankyou to all of the vendors that came along for the day, Mrs Miles, all staff that helped throughout the afternoon, and especially to our students who came along and made the day possible.

2024 School Captain
Important message - Mental Health
School Captain, Maddison Frankish officially opened the 2024 Youth Expo on Monday last week and thanking the many vendors that had so generously dedicated their time to supporting our students, Maddie brought attention to the importance of prioritising mental health. Below is just some of what Maddie had to share with her peers last week.
Today, I want to talk to you about something that is often overlooked but so incredibly crucial: mental health. As young people, were navigating through a world that is increasingly demanding and confusing. It’s a journey filled with highs and lows, triumph and challenges. And amidst of all of this, your mental well being plays a pivotal role in shaping your experiences and determining your success and happiness.
Too often young people are told to tough it out, and push through the difficult times. The truth is, ignoring your mental health can have serious consequences. It can affect your academic performance, your relationships, and your overall quality of life.
The reality is; taking care of your mental health isn’t a sign of weakness, it’s a sign of strength and resilience. It’s about recognising your needs and taking steps to address them. Whether its through professional therapy, mindfulness practices, or simply just reaching out to a trusted friend, parent or any of our amazing team of staff here at CSDE, there are countless ways to prioritise your mental well being.
So I leave you with this, with investing in your mental health today, you’re not just securing a brighter and more positive future for yourself, but your also contributing to a world where mental health is valued, understood, and prioritised for generations to come. As young people I encourage you to take the time to check in with yourself regularly, practice self-care and to seek support when you need it. There is always help available.
Do it for Dolly - 'Speak even if your voice shakes'
Student Amelia speaks out against bullying and the significance of 'Do it for Dolly Day' for her.
Hi my name is Amelia and this is my horse Starlight.
She is a rescue. I took some photos with her for Dolly Day.
I think Do if for Dolly is very important because dolly took her life because of bullying and we should all know that bullying of any kind is not ok.
Verbal, physical and even controlling another person.
If this is happening to you remember...

CSDE Mental Health Mini Mart 2024
A huge THANK YOU to all the incredible agencies that supported our Youth Expo on Monday during our Mini School. It was a fantastic way to celebrate positive mental health, promote 'stopping the stigma' around mental health, and remind students that it's 'ok to not be ok.'
We are especially grateful to Rotary for their generous donation, to Mr. Muvoti for preparing our amazing lunch, to all the students and staff, and to Galactic Donuts for the delicious treats—they were a hit!
Thank you to the Capra's for hosting the footy activity, which the students loved, and to CQID for engaging with our students and providing wonderful merchandise.
We appreciate and achkowledge the input of our School Based Youth Health Nurses, Mischa (Glenmore High) and Krystal (North Rockhampton High), as well as to the fantastic teams from Headspace, Girls Time Out, PCYC, Selectability, Our Space, and Fun Time Amusements.
A special thank you to the art department for organising and running the CSDE R U Ok Day canvas activity. We look forward to displaying it in our school to promote a positive outlook on mental health.
Thanks to all the staff who helped before, during, and after the event. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Lastly, a huge shoutout to our school captain, Maddie Frankish. Your leadership on the day and the way you represented both yourself and the school is truly commendable. Thank you for all your support.
We look forward to seeing you all again at our Youth Expo 2025!

Sports Person of the year award 2024
CSDE annually acknowledges the sporting achievements of a Primary and Secondary Student, who has excelled throughout the year at the end of year awards.
The presentation of the Sports Person of the Year Award goes to the student who has accumulated the most amount of points throughout the year in their various sporting achievements.
Parents are asked to advise the school throughout the year of the sporting achievements by completing this online form. Scores are based on events, the level of the event (district, regional, state, national etc) and the students placing within those events. You will need to complete the form for each individual acheivement. Do not place all acheivements on the one form.
At the end of the year, points are collated, and the winner announced.
Information to note:
* School sports are what counts for CSDE Sportsperson of the year. Students are recognised for their achievement in other non-school fields; however, these achievements are not part of the accumulation of points towards the CSDE Sportsperson of the year.
* You should list the highest level that your student has represented in that sport, noting that the points are only entered if the student represented, and not if they were selected and did not attend.
* Unfortunately, camp-drafting, is not a recognised school sport and so would not apply for Sportsperson of the year.
