Enrolment Categories – Fee Waiver

To apply for a fee waiver, please submit the required supporting documentation for your student by Tuesday, 27 January 2026.

The documentation is essential each year to ensure you are not invoiced.

Documentation Requirements by Category:

Home-based (by choice)

• A valid Health Care Card, Concession Card (dated on or after 27/01/2026), or other evidence of financial hardship.

Medical

A certificate from a registered medical/health practitioner or psychologist.

The certificate must include:

• Confirm the student is unable to attend a mainstream state school for more than 80 consecutive school days due to health reasons.
• Be dated within the past 12 months.
• Be signed by the practitioner (must be registered under the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law).

Itinerant / Traveller

Evidence of an itinerant lifestyle. A letter from the parent/carer’s employer, stating:

• Employment status.
• Work schedule, including dates and locations.

Important Notice Regarding 2026 Online Consent Forms

If you have indicated that your student will be returning to CapSDE in 2026, please ensure that you complete the online consent form for your student’s appropriate year level.

• Primary students only need to complete the form if they are moving into a new phase of learning. For example, Year 3 students in 2025 moving into Year 4 in 2026, or Year 6 students in 2025 moving into Year 7 in 2026. Additionally, if you did not submit the consent form for 2025.

• All secondary students are required to complete the 2026 online consent form due to changes in programs.

Intention to Depart

If your student/s are not returning in 2026. Please return all required documents for your student/s.

Once we receive the completed intention to leave form, along with the relevant supporting documentation listed below, we will be able to process your student’s departure.

Please note, until we receive confirmation and the necessary evidence, CapSDE will continue to send absentee notices during this transition period.

Supporting Documentation Required:

• Enrolment at Another School:
  If enrolling in a private school, please provide evidence such as a confirmation of enrolment letter or email.

• Working:
  Please provide a letter from the employer confirming work status and hours.

• Further Education:
  Please provide evidence such as a TAFE or university acceptance letter, or apprenticeship indenture forms.
