CapSDE Students Shine at High School Percentile Campdraft
A team of Capricornia School of Distance Education students represented our school with pride at the High School Percentile Campdraft held in Pittsworth.
Congratulations to Brielle (Year 12), Bella (Year 12), Mac (Year 10), Jayde (Year 10) and Darcy (Year 9) who competed against students from 39 other schools.
Our CapSDE team was awarded Best Presented School in the Grand Parade on Saturday — an outstanding achievement! The team received a Perpetual Trophy, sponsored by Allcannons Stock Horses, which will be proudly displayed at our school. Each student was also awarded a Blue Ribbon and an Ariat voucher valued at $200.
A special thank you to Fucheng Woodland (Dion and Sharon Porter) for donating the beautiful saddle pads used by our team. The Porters are proud CapSDE parents, with their son Chase currently in Year 10.
We’re also excited to share Brielle's video capturing highlights from the weekend — Click the link below for this wonderful showcase of our students in action!
Congratulations to all involved and thank you to everyone who supported our students in attending this fantastic event.

Secondary Leading Edge

Greetings all!
How time has flown by – it’s already term 4! Some of us might be looking forward to finishing the year and enjoying the Christmas holidays. Those in year 12, such as myself, might be thinking quite a lot about this being our last EVER term of school – a scary thought for some, an inspiring one for others.
To my fellow seniors, appreciate the time we have left here, not just at CapSDE, but at school as a whole. It’s been a long journey that we are finally seeing the end of, perhaps just spend a few minutes remembering some of the highs and lows we’ve experienced.
And after you’re done doing that, seniors, make sure to study for externals! They may be hard, but it’s nothing we haven’t done before, so with a little bit of effort every day, you’ll do great!
Thank you for taking the time out of your day to let me share my thoughts with you!
Good luck and expect to hear from me again in a couple weeks!
School Captain Harrison Lawrence

SECONDARY NOMINATIONS CLOSE TUESDAY 4th NOVEMBER

My Work Experience Story - Montanna
During the school holidays, I had the privilege of attending a five-day youth program at Puckapunyal Military Base.
Throughout the week, myself and a group of people also interested in the Australian Defence Force explored the military base and gained valuable information about the variety of diverse jobs the Australian Defence Force offers, from Recovery and Vehicle Mechanics, to Band members, Armoured Vehicle Crews, and Officer Entry positions.
I experienced the day-to-day life of an Australian Soldier, from waking early and catching the bus to the Mess Hall for meals, to participating in physical training, and observing how high-tech driving, navigation and gunnery simulators are used to train new recruits in their chosen field.
This week gave me a deeper understanding of life in the ADF. It showed me how being open to new experiences can reveal a whole new world, and it highlighted how the ADF encourages mateship and resilience as I made many great friends and memories throughout this week.

Work Experience (Trade-Based) with Energy Queensland (including Ergon Energy Network and Energex)

Valor Esports Inclusion Grant: Esports Program – Fortnite

We are excited to announce that CapSDE has been awarded the Valor Esports Grant, launching a brand-new structured esports training program for our students. This term we are diving in to the online video game:
Fortnite. Developed by Epic Games it is primarily known for its Battle Royale mode, where players compete to be the last one standing among 100 players. In addition to Battle Royale, Fortnite offers various game modes, including creative experiences and live events, allowing players to create and explore a wide range of user-generated content. The game is free-to-play and very popular, and offers numerous opportunities for team building, communication, resource sharing, strategic planning and real-time strategy.
We’ve kicked off our first sessions last term in Term 3 and students were enthusiastic and engaged. Over the next term, we will track how our team feels during training and what we've learned!
To support our team, we’ll continue to:
- Celebrate small wins to build confidence
- Add variety to keep excitement high
- Refine sessions to maintain focus
We’re proud to be at the forefront of this exciting educational movement. Stay tuned as we share our students’ progress and success stories throughout this term!
Contact the eSports Team: Mr Stoff and Ms Schofield if you would like to join at csdesports@caprrocksde.eq.edu.au. Our eSports get togethers happen Tuesday afternoons from 3:30-4:30pm.
Let’s keep levelling up together team!

Love Bites for Year 12 Leavers Week

‘Earlier in 2025, Ms Schofield(Head of HPE/The Arts/Technology) and our Guidance Officer, Kate Miles attended three days of ‘Love Bites’ training delivered by The National Association for Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect (NAPCAN). Love Bites is a well-established respectful relationships program that has been facilitated in schools across Australia since 2004. It was a grassroots response created by various agencies such as health, police, domestic violence services and education coming together to write a prevention program for the youth of Australia. Since its humble beginnings, written for the local area of these agencies at the time, it has now been linked and aligned to our Australian Curriculum in Junior Secondary.
While at the training we learnt about respectful and positive relationships, implementation, best practice principles, how to run the program comfortably and affectively while using the terminology of youth today.
The Junior Program consists of 3 programs tailored to young people aged 11 – 14.
- *Friends
- *Respectful relationships, emotional intelligence, bullying and gender
- *Relationships, love and control
- The Senior Program
- *Relationships and ‘the line’
- *Relationships, sex and consent
- *Making change, speaking up and speaking out
Over the last few months, we have been working together to create a plan moving forward to implement Love Bites as part of our ongoing implementation of RRE in our school as required by The Department of Education.
Our goal is that by the start of 2026 our program will be in full swing and complement our already existing RRE currently being covered in years 7 – 10. As the facilitators, Ms Schofield and Mrs Miles look forward to a successful plan moving forward to make sure all our Secondary students here at CapSDE leave with a solid understanding of RRE.
Further information will be released once the program is ready to be rolled out and delivered for our Junior School. However, we start the delivery of the Senior Program of Love Bite’s at CapSDE this term with our Year 12 students during their year 12 Leaver’s week in Week 7.

Sports Person of the year award 2025 - Nominations close 17th October

CapSDE annually acknowledges the sporting achievements of a Primary and Secondary Student, who has excelled throughout the year at the end of year awards.
The presentation of the Sports Person of the Year Award goes to the student who has accumulated the most amount of points throughout the year in their various sporting achievements.
Parents are asked to advise the school throughout the year of the sporting achievements by completing this online form. Scores are based on events, the level of the event (district, regional, state, national etc) and the students placing within those events. You will need to complete the form for each individual achievement. Do not place all achievements on the one form.
On the 17th October, nominations will close and points will be collated. The winner will be announced at the end of year Awards Ceremony.
Information to note:
* School sports are what counts for CapSDE Sportsperson of the year. Students are recognised for their achievement in other non-school fields; however, these achievements are not part of the accumulation of points towards the CSDE Sportsperson of the year.
* You should list the highest level that your student has represented in that sport, noting that the points are only entered if the student represented, and not if they were selected and did not attend.
We welcome your feedback
