👩🎨Colour Run is back!
Last year's P&C Colour Run was a huge success on both campuses. Lots of happy, colourful children and amazing prizes for fundraising efforts were handed out to all students that were involved.
This year, Monty's Colour & Slime Fun Run is back and better than ever! This will be held on both campuses once again during Term Four Mini-school.
Rockhampton Campus
Date: Tuesday 18th November 2025
Time: 3:30 - 4:15pm
Emerald Campus
Date: Thursday 20th November 2025
Time: 3:30 - 4:15pm
Funds from the Colour Run will go towards subsidising
- 2026 School Camps,

Last year we raised a total of $18 277.00! Let’s see if we can go better this year! After this year’s event "The Colour Run will take place every two years. We encourage you to participate this year and help raise vital funds in support of our students."
This is something that students can fundraise for, even if they aren’t able to attend the event and there are also plenty of really cool prizes to choose from for students that fundraise.
Along with the cool prizes students could WIN $20 000 CASH. Every $20 raised = 1 Entry into the draw. Winner will be announced in December 2025. Australian Fundraising want to give our fundraising efforts an extra boost and are offering the following bonus promotions.
The class that creates the most profile pages within 7 days of the fundraiser start date will receive a Monty Scented Pencil.
Each Student who raises over $100 will receive a Monty Handball
The highest fundraising student in each year level will win a Mini Monty Speaker
The highest fundraising student in the school will win a Monty Show bag

Prep
Our Prep students have been working hard this term and are making wonderful progress across all learning areas.
In Phonics, students are confidently mastering their Level 1 to 3 sounds and showing great success in writing their dictation sentences. One of our key writing goals this year has been to remember to begin sentences with a capital letter and finish with a full stop, question mark or exclamation mark. We have also been practising using finger spaces between words and forming our letters neatly on the red and blue lines in our writing books. The children have shown marvellous improvement, and their teachers are very proud of their writing efforts.

This progress is shining through in English lessons too. Our Prep students are using their knowledge of sounds and high frequency words to write imaginative sentences and complete their work with thoughtful illustrations that match their writing. Their growing confidence as readers is wonderful to see, with many students now reading Level 3 texts fluently.

In Mathematics, students have been revising and consolidating their addition, subtraction and sharing strategies. They are mastering their ‘Friends of 10’ number bonds and making connections with other strategies such as doubles and turnarounds. It has been a joy to see how their number confidence has grown through hands-on learning experiences.

George's experience with The Defence Work Experience Program

QCIA Art Unit

In Term 3, QCIA students engaged in an art unit focused on exploring the creative possibilities of air-dry clay and making simple pinch pots. The program introduced students to the fundamental techniques of shaping and refining air-dry clay forms, encouraging the development of fine motor control and spatial awareness. Throughout the unit, lessons emphasised hand-building skills, surface texture, and the importance of craftsmanship.
Once the clay pieces were completely dry and ready for decoration, students were shown the expressive qualities of acrylic paints and marker pens, applying colour theory through blending, layering, and detail work. The unit’s aim was to combine tactile exploration with visual creativity, fostering confidence and independence in the artmaking process.

Guidance 'Go-2'

“Education is not just in the school”
Education must extend far beyond the school gates, education is not just in the school but also in the community, the home, in the struggle and in the heart. Here at CapSDE this statement could ring truer. As a Home Tutor, you play a pivotal role in your child’s educational success, so this article applies to us all.
Many students struggle and have struggled since their early school years (often a large reason why your child is schooling with us) - a time often marked by the feeling of invisibility, a disconnection that sparks a deep aversion to the education. The turning point for a lot of students is... their teachers.
Teachers who see, believe and challenge their students are truly what makes the difference. These teachers don't just teach curriculum, they teach belief, they teach hope, they teach recognition of circumstances of the heavy responsibilities often carried by the youth of today and they transform our students’ relationships with learning.
They teach our students to be proud of what they can do and not be embarrassed about what they can't do. The right words spoken at the right time can change everything. As educators we need to plant the seeds of belief, sometimes when students are unable to believe in themselves. The message is clear - education is about more than knowledge. It is about humanity, resilience and change and it begins with our students are feeling that they are being seen.

Sports Person of the year award 2025 - Nominations close 23 October

CapSDE annually acknowledges the sporting achievements of a Primary and Secondary Student, who has excelled throughout the year at the end of year awards.
The presentation of the Sports Person of the Year Award goes to the student who has accumulated the most amount of points throughout the year in their various sporting achievements.
Parents are asked to advise the school throughout the year of the sporting achievements by completing this online form. Scores are based on events, the level of the event (district, regional, state, national etc) and the students placing within those events. You will need to complete the form for each individual achievement. Do not place all achievements on the one form.
On the 23rd October, nominations will close and points will be collated. The winner will be announced at the end of year Awards Ceremony.
Information to note:
* School sports are what counts for CapSDE Sportsperson of the year. Students are recognised for their achievement in other non-school fields; however, these achievements are not part of the accumulation of points towards the CSDE Sportsperson of the year.
* You should list the highest level that your student has represented in that sport, noting that the points are only entered if the student represented, and not if they were selected and did not attend.
We welcome your feedback
